Imagine waking up tomorrow with the moment of happiness of a prawn fisher in Tanzania, a teacher in Venezuela, a student in India or a cook in Turkey. Now imagine bringing them extra joy by simply sharing your happy moment with them…
On World Happiness Day (20.03.23) we opened the brand new WorldHappinessCafe. It’s a unique in-app Cafe where people from around the world will share their daily moment of happiness. The sole purpose is to celebrate that happiness multiplies when shared.
The challenge
We have a challenge to reach as many countries as possible on 21st June 2023 (Solstice). How incredible would it be to have at least one person in all 196 countries sharing their moment of happiness on that day, with others around the world.
The Cafe will be open from 20th March to 22nd June 2023. We invite you and every person around the world to join our WorldHappinessCafe. You can watch a one minute introduction video here.
How can you join?
As a tool we use the easy, free and pure app HappyWe, that especially for this challenge created the WorldHappinessCafe in the app. You will be connected with up to 8 others and it will shuffle each 3 days. It will cost you max 5 minutes a day. Just share your moment (photo/text) and react on the moment of the others in the Cafe. When you download the app choose “join OneGoodThingCafé”. As from the 6th of March, you will instantly see WorldHappinessCafe and your first connections in the app! How cool is that.

Inspire others to join
Simply by sharing it with your connections and encouraging them to join. Anyone can join anytime they want for as long as they want. And it’s free! We all know the phrase a smile can travel the world, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do in 100 days. This has never been done before. The progress of the challenge will be shown simply by the number of countries represented in the WorldHappinessCafe. In the list below you can see which countries joined up until today: they are marked green. Can you make someone join our Cafe from a country that’s not represented yet?

Kick-off: WHC in Antropia
We launched the in-app WorldHappinessCafe on Monday 20 March at 5 p.m. symbolically at the cafe of congress centre Antropia, Hoofdstraat 8, Driebergen, The Netherlands. This is also where Optimist magazine is based.
World Happiness Cafe is an initiative of MultiplyHappiness (app HappyWe) and Optimist magazine and will be open 20th March 2023 (World Happiness Day) until 22th June 2023. It is inspired by a Dutch HappinessCafe launched a couple of years ago that recently reached 2 million (!) times someone got happier.
